I love teaching! I have been teaching in various capacities since my 20s and was a graduate level University instructor for over a decade. I have continued to enjoy my love of teaching through my ‘embrace the middle’ workshops and webinars.
All of my workshops and webinars incorporate direct teachings, experiential learning, and opportunities for questions and exploration. The topics are those that are particularly resonant for women and can be taught in-person or virtually. Depending on your needs and desired depth, the workshops can range from one hour to a full day. Workshops can also be custom-designed, using a combination of complimentary topics.
“Shayna holds space in the most loving and effective way. Her workshops are full of great information that allows one to step inside with full authenticity while being held with the felt sense of love and acceptance. Her work is based in well-developed research that is interesting and educational. I walked away with insight that continues to feed and fuel me every day.” Elizabeth S.
Topics:
Embracing Your Power
What it means to be empowered, and how we get there, is an individual experience. For some, it is having access to resources, for others, it is speaking our truth, and for others it is advocating for a cause.
When we embrace our power, we are alive, energized, and centered in our self-worth. When, however, we are out of touch with our personal power, we feel small, contained and depleted. In this workshop, we will explore our personal connection with power, when we feel empowered, when we feel disempowered, and what blocks us from stepping into the fullness of our being. We will use guided meditations, reflection exercises, and dyads to enrich our experiential learning.
Embracing Forgiveness
Most people think forgiveness is about making amends or about giving or accepting apologies. That is not wha this workshop is about. In fact, the focus has nothing to do with the other person. It is about healing our own resentment to the offending person - the resentment that blocks our growth and limits our joy – and moving towards a place of acceptance. This approach explores forgiveness from a different, gentler, and more empowering space.
Embracing Limiting Beliefs
Limiting beliefs are thoughts – conscious or unconscious - that keep us stuck and adversely influence our behavior. Some come from our childhood while other limiting beliefs form in adulthood. Regardless of their longevity, we seldom pause to question their truth or the many ways they limit our choices. Examples include: “I’m not smart enough” “I’m not competent at ___,” or “It’s too late to__”. If we maintain these beliefs, we will act accordingly. This workshop guides attendees to identify, examine, and challenge limiting beliefs that limiting their life experience.
Introduction to Mindfulness
The buzz around mindfulness - also known as presence - is well deserved. People who practice mindfulness know themselves better, have less anxiety and depression, are more resilient, and have greater physical and emotional wellbeing. In the workshop, we will not only learn about the theory and practice of mindfulness. Will also experience mindfulness first-hand via guided exercises.
Managing Anxiety with Mindfulness
Mindfulness teaches us how to “be” in the here and now, rather than in living in the world of “what if” worry. It helps us examine what it really happening vs. what “could” happen. And when we are more present, we feel less helpless. This, in turn, lowers our stress level, makes us feel better, sharpens our decision-making, and helps us to be more connected with our family, friends, and colleagues. In this workshop we will learn what mindfulness is and mindful tools to help manage stress and anxiety.
Welcoming Self-Compassion
For most of us, treating others with kindness and compassion comes naturally. This is especially true for women who tend to be innate nurturers. When we see someone experiencing physical or emotional pain, our heart instinctively goes out to them. But what about how we treat ourselves? Do we exhibit the same kindness and compassion towards ourselves as we do to others? If you are like most people, the answer is no. When it comes to ourselves, harsh judgement and self-criticism are the norm, which creates a second level of pain and likely carries over to our homes and workplace. In the workshop, you will learn what self-compassion is, what blocks self-compassion, and tools to cultivate self-compassion.
A Day of Embracing the Middle
This is a beautiful, day-long immersive event which brings the concepts and tools of Embrace the Middle experientially to life. It is intentionally limited to twelve midlife women, to allow for deep connection, attention, and support. Using a combination of guided and silent meditations, cognitive exercises, music, and movement, participants explore their midlife landscape.

Thank you beautiful sister for such a magical gift of your day retreat yesterday 🌟Your softness and compassion shone bright and transformation happened
Jaks C.I have found the workshops to be very insightful, and potentially transformative. It is a wonderful idea to have a workshop for women in similar places in their lives. It is beautifully lead by Shayna, who offers insight, guidance, and wisdom. I highly recommend these workshops!
Donna B.Thank you so much Shayna Gothard Kaufmann!!! What a wonderful, positive, encouraging, supportive and enlightening experience! All of what you were saying were things I definitely can relate to, and your facilitated exercise was so very valuable. Thank you for creating this for our community of women and beyond. You really are amazing and I admire you deeply!
Shannon W.Through her “Embracing” series, Shayna graciously extends her extensive knowledge, experience, insight, guidance, healing, zen-like leadership and obvious love for what she does with her fellow “middle” women. I gained significant insight about “me” in ways I hadn’t considered before, and that allowed me to begin a wonderful journey of much needed acceptance, forgiveness, healing and peace. I also gained a network of amazing, wonderful women! Thank you, Shayna. You are a trusted adviser and forever friend.
Kelly B.Ongoing growth and development is a huge priority in my life, but I was having a difficult time finding the right context for creating it. Within the confines of Shayna’s group I found camaraderie, laughter, fellowship, connectedness, a feeling of interpersonal relatedness, a sense of safety and mutual respect, and an overall feeling of being truly heard without judgement. I trust Shayna implicitly and in her group I always feel comfortable and safe; a nurturing space to reflect, engage in lively conversation, explore new options and possibilities, and find new ways of thinking about old challenges. I cannot think of a better person to facilitate personal growth and development workshops than Shayna Kaufmann.
